Venus Twilight
How beautiful to sit outside in the evening and watch Venus shine as an evening star. Each day she grows brighter, beaming some hope into our little planet. Above, Sandro Botticelli’s Primavera or Spring. Painted in the 1470’s it depicts the following:
Venus: The central figure, presiding over the garden.
The Three Graces: Dancing in a circle on the left.
Mercury: On the far left, using his staff to dispel clouds.
Flora: The woman in the floral dress scattering blossoms.
Chloris and Zephyrus: On the right, the nymph Chloris is being pursued by the wind god Zephyrus before she transforms into Flora.
Cupid: Hovering above Venus, aiming his arrow at the Graces.
