Bagua Qigong- Symbolic Movement in the 8 Directions

Face South to begin with standing still, feet together with hands resting at the dan tien. Feel your feet connected gravitationally to the center of the Earth. Breath with it. Let the Earth support you. Feel the top of your head connected gravitationally to the Big Dipper and North Star at center of the heavens. Breath with it. Let the Heavens illuminate you. Then come back into your body and feel an blending of these two Heaven and Earth engergies in the body. Next, move your awareness to the horizon and feel a magnetic connection with the direction South. Whatever you imagine that to be.

Step 1
Turn to the left 45° to face the SE - Left foot forward right foot in back, feel the magnetic SE in the body and begin the movement. Allow your body to sway freely forwards and backwards with the hands gathering in the energy of the SE and then bringing this energy into the body. Back and forth. Feel the soft openess of shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands. Hips, pelvis, knees, ankles and toes. Feel the weight shifting forwards and backwards. The toes come off the ground as you sway back and they return to the ground with the forward movement. Move within the energy pathway. The movement originates at the navel and emanates outward from there creating the motion in the body. Repeat 8 times or until you experience the flow of the SE direction in the body. Like an ocean waves rolling onto the beach. Connect with the direction.

Pause then,
Turn to the right 180° NW - Right foot forward, feel magnetic NW in the body, continue movement 8 times. Bring in the direction.


Turn to the left 90° to SW - Left foot forward, feel magnetic SW in the body, continue movement 8 times. Bring in the direction.


Turn to the right 180° NE - Right foot forward, feel magnetic NE in the body, continue movement 8 times. Bring in the direction.


Turn to the left 135° to W - Left foot forward, feel magnetic W in the body, continue movement 8 times. Bring in the direction.


Turn to the right 180° E - Right foot forward, feel magnetic E in the body, continue movement 8 times. Bring in the direction.


Turn to the left 90° to N - Left foot forward, feel magnetic N in the body, continue movement 8 times. Bring in the direction.


Turn to the right 180° S - Right foot forward, feel magnetic S in the body, continue movement 8 times. Bring in the direction.


Face South to end; hands at dan tien standing still. Feel magnetic South in the body. Feel the energy settle at the navel or dan tien area. Feel your center like a floating magnetic needle of a compass. Breath natually from your center, connect with the compass of the Earth, connect with the compass of the Heavens, connect with the compass of your body at the center of abdomin until you feel settled and complete.
